William Valasidis is a the Director of Communication of the Court of Justice of the European Union. Prior to assuming the responsibility of the newly founded Directorate of Communication, he served as a Référendaire in the Chambers of the President of the Court, Prof. Dr. Vassilios Skouris (1999-2014) and in the Chambers of Judge Krateros Ioannou (1998-1999). From 1993-1997, he served as a trainee with Voutyras Zannas and Associates in Thessaloniki, Greece and as a visiting attorney with DeOrchis, Walker & Corsa LLP in New York (1997) and Goodrich Riquelme y Associados in Mexico City (1996). He holds a Degree in Law with high honors from Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki School of Law and completed two years of postgraduate studies there in Corporate, Admiralty and Bankruptcy Law. He also holds a Master of Law (LL.M.) from Harvard Law School. Mr. Valasidis currently serves as the Vice-President of the European Law Moot Court Society.
The lecture will open a regional final round of the European Law Moot Court Competition that is hosted in Prague this year.
The lecture will be not only about internal organization of CJEU but mostly about the Opinion 2/13 on ECHR accession and the Dano case (on social tourism).
The lecture will be held in english.
